Welcome to Spring! In keeping with the vibe of 2020, this Spring has a faint whiff of the ‘unprecedented’ about it. It was comedian Robin Williams who said: “Spring is nature’s way of saying, ‘Let’s party!’” This year the mantra might be more along the lines of: “Spring is nature’s way of reminding you to feel the sun on your face, the warmth in the breeze and give thanks for being allowed outside – if you’re in a place where you can actually do that”.
At ATYP, we are thrilled to be offering Holiday Workshops once again for the coming school holidays. The program is being presented in person for the first time since January and places are filling up quickly! You can check out the program on the website along with our COVID Safety Plan.
One group of theatre makers who have made the transition to online learning effortlessly are our nation’s playwrights. This month we are launching a program of exceptional masterclasses open to anyone in Australia. This series involves the extraordinary Tommy Murphy, Michele Lee, Mary Anne Butler, Lachlan Philpott and Anchuli Felicia King. Because ATYP understands many artists are struggling financially at this time, this program is designed so you can buy tickets each week, selecting the subjects that interest you. It will be launched next week so keep watch on our social media platforms and the website.
For emerging artists, teenagers and/or their parents don’t miss our two-part webinar series; Your Journey Into The Arts. The first session – “How Do I Get Into The Arts” is on Tuesday 8th September at 6pm. This is your chance to hear from three leaders in the industry who have nurtured and promoted the careers of some of the country’s best-known artists. Only an hour-long, this is your window into the ways of getting a foothold in this industry. And for those wanting a practical experience, you can book into the next Pro Series masterclass with Head of Acting at NIDA, John Bashford. John is exploring acting techniques in a COVID safe world. It offers essential skills for all working and aspiring actors.
Parents and supporters involved in Business, ATYP has a corporate workshop program that can bring out the best in your team. Working with some of Australia’s leading artists and communicators, these specialised workshops will create confident speakers with authentic presence, adding a professional polish to your presentations. You can see details here.
There’s a lot to look forward to this month. We hope this spring has at least a touch of “Let’s party” for all of us.
Until next month,
Fraser
