IMPORTANT COVID-19 UPDATE: 30 JULY 2021

30.07.21

We have made an update on all ATYP programs due to the extension of the Greater Sydney lockdown. Read on for an update on:

WEEKLY WORKSHOPS

Our super fun Weekly Drama Workshops for Semester 2 are continuing virtually through ATYP Online and it’s not too late to book and join the fun! We will continue to monitor the updates and advice from the NSW Government and remain optimistic that we will be able to return to COVID-safe in-person classes when restrictions are lifted. Until then, see you online!

FOLLOW ME HOME NATIONAL TOUR

Unfortunately, we, along with Arts on Tour, have made the difficult decision to cancel the national tour of Lewis Treston’s Follow Me Home. However, we are super excited that Arts Margaret River are presenting Follow Me Home through our Digital Touring option! We hope to be adding more interstate and regional venues to the list so more and more people can continue to experience the work of the national youth theatre. For students, there is an option to watch Follow Me Home through our free digital classroom – ATYP On Demand.

THE LIES WE WERE TOLD

Due to the extended lockdown, in conjunction with Shopfront Arts Co-op, we have made the decision to postpone The Lies We Were Told to later in the year. The new dates are 24 November – 5 December and tickets for the new dates will be available soon.

NATIONAL STUDIO

We are excited to announce the new dates for the postponed 2021 National Studio! This year’s ATYP National Studio will now take place from Monday 29 November – Saturday 4 December at Bamarang Bush Retreat, NSW.

ATYP is constantly monitoring the changing status of the COVID-19 situation and actioning advice from federal and state governments and the Australian and NSW Health Departments. In light of this, the National Studio may need to be pivoted to an online program.

GENERAL AUDITIONS

Last but not least, general auditions for our 2022 season (our first back on the wharf!) are still open for submissions! We want self-tapes from young people aged between 15-25 years old, so if this sounds like you or someone you know, check out the full call out on our auditions page.

SHACK AND SOUL TRADING

As a result of the extended NSW Government COVID-19 stay at home orders affecting scheduled programming, ATYP has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 seasons of Shack and Soul Trading. Unfortunately, it has proved impossible to cast, rehearse and produce the show in the current uncertainty of the Sydney lockdown.

Ticket holders will be contacted directly by the Griffin Box office team and prompted to fill out relevant forms (click here for Shack and click here for Soul Trading) so they know how best to process your ticket purchase. This includes the option to donate the value of your ticket to support ATYP during this very difficult time. As a not-for-profit company, ATYP relies on the generosity and understanding of our community. By donating the value of your tickets you will help to reduce the impact this revenue loss will have on our artists and ongoing company costs.

ATYP will continue to act on the advice from the Federal and State governments, the Department of Health, NSW Health (and other state health departments where applicable) ensuring our community of young people, parents, carers, artists, audiences, staff, and board are kept informed and safe through this difficult time.

Stay safe, we’ll all get through this together. See you on the other side!

The ATYP Team
