FAQ’s for schools
We have implemented a number of health and safety measures at all of our performance venues which are updated and changed based on the latest government advice. You can also access our most up to date risk assessment here. Please note as restrictions and legislation is constantly changing, you will need to ensure you keep up to date and check all communications from ATYP and the production venue on the lead up to your excursion.
Face masks are strongly recommended throughout the venue and during the performance. If on the day of your scheduled performance you feel unwell or are experiencing any flu-like symptoms, we strongly encourage you to stay home!
We recommend that students leave large school bags at school or at home and bring a small bag or satchel to carry essentials. School bags can become an obstacle in an emergency evacuation. If a performance is busy or in a smaller space, bags are sometimes prohibited, so in this case, students will be asked to leave their bags in a designated place.
Please book your buses to arrive 30 minutes prior to the performance starts.
If you are planning on staying for the post-show Q&A please schedule your bus for at least 30 minutes after the performance ends.
If you are unsure of the running times for the production please contact [email protected].
For performances located at SBW Stables Theatre: the theatre is located at 10 Nimrod Street, in the heart of Kings Cross.

Kings Cross, NSW, 2011
The SBW Stables Theatre is located just a 5-minute walk from Kings Cross Station which is regularly served by trains on the T4 Eastern Suburbs line and the 311, 324 and 325 buses. To get information about public transport around Sydney call 131 500 or visit the Transport NSW website.
Secure Parking is a 10-minute walk to the SBW Stables Theatre and is located at 9A Elizabeth Bay Road (entry via Ward Avenue). The car park is open 24 hours, 7 days a week. There is timed, street parking in the surrounding area, however, availability cannot be not guaranteed.
For performances at the SBW Stables Theatre we regret that the historic theatre presents challenges to people with limited mobility. Entry to the theatre is via stairs and is not wheelchair accessible. However, we can reserve seating to cater for those with limited mobility, vision impairment and hearing impairment. Please contact [email protected] if this is the case.
We understand that life happens and traffic can be tricky during peak times. Please allow plenty of time to get to the venue. If you believe you might be late please contact the SBW Stables Theatre box office directly on (02) 9361 3817 and let the team know. Alternatively, call the ATYP team directly on (02) 9270 2409.
Most daytime school performances are UNRESERVED seating unless otherwise specified. This means seats are not allocated by row and number, but that we will seat you in school groups.
Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the performance starts and see the Front of House staff in the foyer so that your school group can be seated in an orderly and timely manner.
Upon making your booking, you will have received a confirmation of booking with your tickets. Please ensure you have that email with you on the day.
We recommend you allow time for students to eat lunch or recess before or after the show to avoid taking food into the theatre, which for some shows may not be permitted. Water bottles are allowed.
Unfortunately, there is no good place to park a bus or a minibus around the Kings Cross area. Most parking is limited to 1 hour during the day and is fiercely contested. We would recommend catching public transport or being dropped off and picked up directly out the front of the theatre where possible.
Attending the SBW Stables Theatre can be tricky for big vehicles, the streets are generally narrow and winding. We suggest that the best bus drop-off/pick-up spot would be on Nimrod street itself, in front of the theatre. Nimrod street doesn’t support a huge amount of traffic, it is feasible to stop in the middle of the road for 5-10 minutes while the students disembark.
