The Resistance

A co-production with Auckland Theatre Company

THE RESISTANCE

BY KIP CHAPMAN

RISE UP!

Ah no, bro! The COVID-related challenges keep coming.

We have had postpone our production The Resistance to 2023. By then we can be sure that audiences will be able to see the production with all its elements as intended.

All ticket-holders to The Resistance will be contacted by the ATYP team to make alternative arrangements. Please stay tuned for further information.

Cancellations such as these have a significant financial impact on our company and the artists we support. If you had planned to see The Resistance, why not consider donating to the ATYP Production Fund. Donations to this fund go directly into the pockets of the artists.

Marlee’s running late, Hayden is seeking justice, Miro has his head in the clouds and Pepper just wants to blow things up. With this group in charge, it’s no wonder the rally is going nowhere fast. But when Marlee is unexpectedly thrust into the limelight, it suddenly feels as if the whole country is watching. Could these young people maybe save the world?

Set in the arena of the climate justice movement and social media, The Resistance is a giant protest rally exploring the power of friendship, the pain of ambition and the deliciousness of potato chips. Interactive theatre maker Kip Chapman (APOLLO 13: Mission Control) takes over ATYP’s brand new Rebel Theatre and immediately destroys the fourth wall, welcoming the audience in on the action.

You are personally invited – in fact, you’re downright encouraged – to jump into this wholehearted theatrical celebration of the power of collective action. And trust us…a lot can happen in 90 minutes.

Put your hand up if you’re ready to save the world?
