SOUL TRADING

Soul Trading is back for 2023

Steps & Holes Theatre Company, in association with ATYP, will stage Soul Trading over 6–10 September 2023. Purchase your tickets here.

As a result of the extended NSW Government COVID-19 stay at home orders affecting scheduled programming, ATYP has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 season of Soul Trading. Unfortunately it has proved impossible to cast, rehearse and produce the show in the current uncertainty of the Sydney lockdown.

Ticket holders will be contacted directly by the Griffin Box office team and prompted to fill out this form so they know how best to process your ticket purchase. This includes the option to donate the value of your ticket to support ATYP during this very difficult time. As a not-for-profit company, ATYP relies on the generosity and understanding of our community. By donating the value of your tickets you will help to reduce the impact this revenue loss will have on our artists and ongoing company costs.

ATYP will continue to act on the advice from the Federal and State governments, the Department of Health, NSW Health (and other state health departments where applicable) ensuring our community of young people, parents, carers, artists, audiences, staff, and board are kept informed and safe through this difficult time.

Winner! 2019 ATYP Foundation Commission (10-13 year olds)

The year is 2079. Humans are created with gene selection technology, Artificial Intelligence is part of everyday life and children’s best friends are their Learning Bots. Except for Jerry. Jerry is not like the others. Neither is Neutron Finch, an exceptionally clever Learning Bot who seems to appear out of nowhere. He is smarter than most Bots, funnier and also possibly illegal. It doesn’t take long for the status quo to unravel and one night, Jerry and his classmates are summoned to the oval…

The Bots want souls. Specifically, theirs. It’s up to six young minds to solve the greatest existential question of all time within 24 hours. Will their soul-searching provide the answers they need to stop AI destroying the world as they know it?

The ATYP Foundation Commission invests in work for young people to perform. Developed by ATYP and published by Playlab, we are creating a canon of work for young actors aged 10-13. This is your chance to see this exciting new Australian work before it goes on to be performed by schools and youth theatres around the country.
