New year, new events at ATYP 🕺

Hello!

When I entered the performing arts industry as a newly graduated Set and Costume Designer, ATYP offered community and artistic opportunities that continue to inform my practice in dynamic and fulfilling ways. My name is Tobhi, and I am a freelance designer currently working with ATYP on their glorious participatory production The Resistance which starts rehearsals on the 16th of Jan. I’ve been collaborating with the director Kip Chapman, the creative team and production management remotely and cannot wait to get this play happening IRL!

The gang of four youth climate activists in The Resistance embody the tenacity, creativity and smarts of our young people. With an overarching theme of the power of contribution and participation to bring about systemic change, we are making the set, prop and costume design as sustainable as we can. Using repurposed items, minimising plastic and using eco-friendly paint are a few examples of how we are keeping this production true to its ethics.

Design masterclass holiday courses with me start next week as part of ATYP’s school holiday program; participants in these will have their placards and banners featured in the production design for The Resistance. I’ve got the paints, card and glue ready and can’t wait to see your creativity next week!

I love that ATYP offers opportunities for young people to build skills both on and off stage.

Come and be a part of the beauty and courage of The Resistance in our season running 16 Feb – 11 March at The Rebel Theatre. See you there!

Best wishes,
Tobhiyah ‘Tobhi’ Stone Feller
Multidisciplinary Designer
