OnStage Week 2020

For Onstage week 2020 ATYP is thrilled to offer a series of exclusive workshops lead by 2 award winning tutors. Anita Hegh (STC, MTC, Company B) and Darren Gilshenan (Bell Shakespeare, ABC’s The Moody’s) will be sharing their skills across two courses designed to give your students a variety of tools that they can use in both their IP and GP performances.

Held at the Redfern Town Hall you will have the choice of sessions running from 9am – 12pm or 1pm – 4pm daily from Monday 10 – Friday 14 February.

Monologue Technique with Anita Hegh

There isn’t much in this industry that Anita hasn’t achieved. An AFI and Helpmann award winning actor, she has performed alongside Hugo Weaving and Cate Blanchett and created some of the country’s most celebrated characters. Anita has won two Helpmann awards for her performances in The Wild Duck and The Ressistiable Rise of Arturo Ui. Join Anita for an intensive monologue technique course that will include:
*Where do you begin?
*Creating a character
*Physicalisation and staging
*How to engage your audience for a whole monologue.

This is the perfect course to get your students skilled up, confident and inspired for their IP performances in their HSC year.

Play Building with Darren Gilshenan

Acclaimed actor Darren Gilshenan will teach students how to use improvisation to kick-start their play building process. Darren won a Helpmann Award for his performance in The Servant of Two Masters(Bell Shakespeare),and has long been recognised as one of the country’s leading comedic actors. This practical workshop will cover the fundamentals of improvisation and demonstrate how to generate and test-out ideas before fleshing them out in a script or performance. Darren will show students how to level-up their creativity with inventiveness and spontaneity. The course includes:
*How to begin
*Building on an idea
*Using improvisation to find drama
*Sustaining and developing characters

This course is designed to give your students a set of practical skills that they can immediately put into practice when starting their GP devising.
