In this Masterclass, Anchuli Felicia King will examine the opportunities and challenges of writing for technodrama: live performance that incorporates new media and digital technologies. This class is intended for writers with an interest in incorporating digital technology into live performance, however no foreknowledge or technical skills are required! In the first part of this class, King will share her theory of “technodramaturgy” and explore some landmark transmedia productions. The second part of this class will take a more specific look at the unique pipelines and dramaturgies afforded by interactive projection mapping, motion capture technology, augmented reality and virtual reality. The class will conclude with a Q&A session where participants are invited to share their own projects or ask King further questions about her work.
