Prepare for your upcoming tertiary acting audition with confidence. Led by professional actor and teaching artist Tom Filer, this workshop series will equip you with the essential skills to deliver a compelling monologue, create a strong self-tape, and navigate the audition room.

Course Outline:

  • Monologue Breakdown.
  • Defining given circumstances and objectives.
  • Making strong character choices.
  • Vocal and physical presence.
  • Natural and believable performance.
  • Emotional connection with text.
  • Inhabiting character.
  • Self tape set up.
  • Navigating a callback.

About Tom Filer

Thomas was accepted into the BFA Acting course at the QUT in 2014 and graduated in 2016. Since graduation, Thomas has worked on several film, television and theatre productions in both Sydney and Melbourne including: Channel 7’s ‘Home and Away’, SBS’s ‘Dead Lucky’, and the Little Theatre Co’s ‘Chemistry’ by Jacob Marx Rice. He has continued his training with numerous industry professionals such as Larry Moss, Howard Fine, and recently lived in NYC while studying with The Atlantic Theatre Company.

He currently lives in Sydney working in TV production as well as with companies such as ATYP, NIDA, and Brent St as an acting tutor. Thomas most recently played Romeo in HER Productions’ award winning production of Romeo and Juliet: A Reimagining.
