Citizenship

Australian Theatre for Young People presents

CITIZENSHIP

BY MARK RAVENHILL

One of his very best plays.
Ravenhill captures excellently the insecurity of adolescence as well as the infinite curiosity.
Guardian, UK

Ravenhill’s Citizenship, is a brilliantly funny story of 16 year old Tom, and his search for identity. As Tom’s search begins he discusses adolescent issues with his friends and over worked teacher, visits a fortune teller and kisses both boys and girls. Ravenhill then cleverly widens the lens as Tom realises that he is searching for who he is as a human being rather than just his sexual identity. Tom is forced to grow up very quickly and discovers that life holds no easy answers.
