ATYP is proudly a playwright’s theatre company.

Playwrights are at the heart of all ATYP’s work. Our national programs allow emerging playwrights to develop skills and creative confidence and assist to build their professional networks so that they can become our next generation of storytellers. These writers go on to be at the centre of our national theatre culture, writing plays for our major theatre companies and the independent sector.

Our playwrights are not only valued as the originators of our productions but are also integrated with our Workshops and Learning programs. While all ATYP programs champion young artists, not all commissioned playwrights need to be under 26.
