For over 60 years, ATYP has nurtured the next generation of actors, directors, writers, designers, and theatre-makers. We’re excited to transform our rehearsal space, The Popsy, into a brand-new 55-seat black box performance and development space. This space will complement our 188-seat theatre, The Rebel, providing young and emerging artists with an accessible, flexible environment to experiment, collaborate, and bring new ideas to life.
Within the Sydney arts-ecology, there is a critical lack of experimental spaces where young and emerging theatre-makers can take creative risks. The Popsy can provide a dedicated space where artists can explore ideas, experiment, fail, and try again, providing new infrastructure growth, innovate, craft development and lastly, presentation. However, the space currently lacks the infrastructure to fully support performances. Your support will help us bring The Popsy up to professional standards, making it a true home for experimentation, innovation, and creativity.
