When is it ok to laugh at something? Are there some subjects that just aren’t ok to make jokes about? Explore the taboo by diving into the world of Black Comedy to see the lighter side of subjects that are generally considered out of bounds. Take inspiration from The Lieutenant of Inishmore, Mr Burns and ATYP’s own Bathory Begins to learn how to make comedy out of subjects that are usually considered too serious, dark or painful to discuss. Examine the role of laughter and how it can help you and your audience to engage with more sensitive material. As a part of this course, the group will head to a performance of Bathory Begins at the Q theatre in Penrith (in September) which will include a bonus Q & A session with the cast and creatives after the show.
