Years 10-12 Saturday The McDonald College Ensemble



This weekly ensemble is designed for senior drama students to develop sophisticated acting and theatre practices, preparing them for HSC Drama performances and further study. Learning about the elements of drama, performance styles, acting and devising techniques, participants will develop and grow skills in collaboration, playwriting, directing and performance.

Term 1: Devising skills for Group Performance. Explore a variety of collaborative approaches to devising including physical theatre, narrative and issues based play building and explore theatre practitioners work to inspire your devising work. Students will gain experience creating a performance based on a provided stimulus.

Term 2: Monologue work for Individual Performance. Develop practical performance skills and explore approaches to performing a monologue. Explore dramatic concepts of creating a character, actor/audience relationship, script analysis and performing a theatrical monologue. Students will be equipped with the skills to hold the audience’s attention, use their vocal and movement skills in performance and take their acting to that next level.
