This course is designed for students who want to develop their skills working with existing text. Learn about the elements of drama including script analysis, establishing subtext, clarifying intention, sharing focus and building tension. Examine short scenes and monologues to create truthful 3-dimensional characters work on articulation and voice projection and how to hold an audience’s attention.
First term classes will focus on skill development and scene work, while the second term gives students a chance to use these skills and work on their favourite monologues and scenes to perform at the end of the Semester. Through rehearsals and performance young artists learn the basics of stagecraft, voice work and performance technique. Guided by an ATYP industry professional these classes will equip participants with the skills and terminology needed as they progress into the senior classes.
