The Actor’s Toolkit Semester 1 2022



This program is designed for young creatives who are interested in expanding their performance skills and adding new techniques to their actor’s toolkit. Throughout the course, participants will attend a variety of Masterclass Workshops with different Industry professionals then put these new skills into practice, creating their own performance. 

Masterclass sessions may include training in (each Semester will focus on a different mix of skills but will not cover them all)

  • Voice 
  • Accent work 
  • Movement
  • Improvisation skills
  • Acting for camera
  • Writing
  • Directing
  • Mask work
  • Performing classic texts/Shakespeare
  • Physical theatre
  • Using song and music in performance
  • Fight choreography
  • Audition techniques and preparation
  • Screen testing
  • Exploring different practitioners and their methods 
  • Slam poetry/Spoken word

The Actor’s Studio provides a unique opportunity for participants to work with peers in a challenging ensemble environment while facilitating connections between young creatives and the industry. As a part of this course, participants will attend a show with their Teaching Artist and ATYP staff to experience and explore theatre with their peers. 

Admission into the Young Industry Studio Series is by audition-only. Scholarship placements are available.

Time: 12pm – 3pm (Yr 7-9) and 1pm – 4pm (Yr 10-12)
