Following the popularity of sold out course Creating Your Own Work with award-winning playwright Lachlan Philpott, ATYP is delighted to announce a follow up eight week workshop. This new course continues to give emerging artists access to leading theatre industry professionals while they gain skills and insights to guide them along their career path.
Participants aged 18-26 will have the chance to work with STC Resident Director Jessica Arthur to explore creating their own work through a directing and devising lens. Jessica has directed productions at Griffin, MTC, Riverside Theatre and La Mama and is currently directing Wonnangatta for STC.
This course will focus on working with actors, exploring text and different styles of directing. Participants will work intensively with Jess and other industry guests as well as having the opportunity to direct professional actors on the floor.
Each participant will have created their own director’s handbook by the end of the course.
‘The sole character…is portrayed by Emily Barclay. She is directed by Jessica Arthur in her first main-stage production as STC’s new Directing Associate and their work together is marvellously subtle, humane, intelligent and mesmerising.’ Stage Noise | Lethal Indifference
