Description
Back by popular demand, ATYP’s Creating Your Own Work is designed for young writers and directors who want to develop their practice, work with industry professionals and connect with other creatives. This course gives emerging artists access to leading theatre industry professionals while they gain skills and insights to guide them along their career path.
Participants in the Directing class will have the chance to work with industry director, Carissa Licciardello to explore creating their own work through a directing and devising lens. This course will focus on working with writers and actors to develop new work, exploring text and different approaches to directing.
Participants will share ideas and work practices, developing the tools to turn ideas into creative work. As an emerging artist you will explore methods of devising and approaches to traditional and non-traditional directing styles. During the course, directors will be teamed up with a participant from the Writing course. Participants will direct their piece as a moved reading, with actors coming in for a few weeks to develop and rehearse the work.
The course will culminate in a showcase of all the works with feedback from Carissa Licciardello, Fraser Corfield (ATYP, Artistic Director) and Jane Fitzgerald (ATYP Dramaturg).
