Work Placements

Spend a week immersed in the day-to-day workings of Australia’s national youth theatre company. ATYP Work Experience is for students in years 10 and 11 who are passionate about theatre, not just drama students or aspiring actors. Participants will work alongside each of our departments learning how a professional company operates and what career pathways are available in the theatre industry.

How it works

Over one week students will participate in discussions and interactive workshops led by ATYP department heads, beginning with an introduction to the company, its mission and philosophy by members of ATYP’s artistic team. Each following day focuses on a different department: Production, Marketing, Fundraising and Workshops. Across the week students work in groups to develop an end-of-week presentation which they deliver to ATYP staff.

Dates and Times

Students may choose one of two weeks to attend: 10-14 August 2020 or 19-23 October 2020.

Students attending in August will attend Lights In The Park at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre, Penrith.

Students attending in October will attend Soul Trading at the SBW Stables Theatre, Darlinghurst.
