Work Experience

EXPERIENCE WORKING AT THE NATIONAL YOUTH THEATRE COMPANY

Calling all young people who have a passion for live performance and the exciting behind-the-scenes world of theatre and production!

In 2024, ATYP is pleased to offer an immersive Work Experience program at our home in Pier 2/3. Students will join the ATYP team for an entire week to find out just what it takes to run a professional theatre company. Students in Year 10 or Year 11 who have an interest in Drama or Entertainment are invited to apply to be one of 16 students taking part in this unique experience.

During ATYP’s Work Experience, students will take part in practical sessions in acting, directing, design, marketing, development, producing, education, and writing, to explore the day-to-day running of a theatre company. They will also work in groups throughout the week on a project that they will present to ATYP staff; a pitch for a show they would like to put on as their newly formed ‘theatre company’.

Entry by application. Students in regional/interstate schools are encouraged to apply. However, ATYP is unable to cover travel and accommodation costs.

Dates: Monday 26 August – Friday 30 August, 2024.

Work Experience applications open on Monday 29 April and close on Friday 28 June 2024
