Hold onto your hat, calm your farm, relax and act natural...ATYP is about to drop the 2018 Season brochure … and it’s only October! In the world of youth theatre this is like successfully launching our own satellite. Sure, other countries have launched before us, but we get a warm inner glow knowing that this season is ours and it’s out there. Keep an eye on your inbox and letterbox because it’ll be landing soon and we can’t wait to hear what you think of season 2018!
This e-news comes to you in the midst of our school holiday workshop program. Over 200 young people have descended on The Wharf and surrounding venues to get their drama fix. While the rest of the team get to see these talented folk making performances for family and friends, I’m heading south to embark on the little known Festival of Forums. First up, I will be plunging into the Australia – Singapore Cultural Leaders Forum, before swinging by the Drama Australia Conference in Canberra, then back down to Adelaide for the Australian Theatre Forum before finishing up with the National Youth Arts Summit. High fives all round and back home for tea and sandwiches. It’s very exciting to have ATYP involved with all these industry events.
Speaking of fine food and entertainment (see what I did there?!) tickets are still available for ATYP’s awesome 80’s inspired fundraiser The Final Countdown. We invite parents and friends to join us as we let our hair down with a night of trivia, live music, delicious food and wine!. Raising funds for our fantastic workshops scholarship program, the night will be hosted by good friends of ATYP, son and father duo Jasper (Fight With all Your Might the Zombies of Tonight) and Craig Reucassel (The Chasers, War on Waste). Treat yourself, grab some friends and come join us.
Of course October holds the usual litany of workshops, masterclasses, creative developments and internships here and around the country. If you would like to get involved have a look at the ATYP website and contact us. We’d love to see you.
Until next month
